Finite element analysis of plastic hollow core sandwich composites

Abstract Applications of sandwich composites are increasing as they continue to develop. The reason for the growth in development and rising demand numerous industries is due its ability achieve high stiffness strength, while simultaneously being lightweight comparison traditional materials. 3D printed plastic hollow core were focused on this study where a bioplastic, Polylactic Acid (PLA), was compared conventional plastic, Polypropylene (PP). investigated effects varying face sheet parameters mechanical properties obtain optimum composite structure. A finite element model developed ANSYS Workbench conduct study. Numerical results with experimental results, both revealed that structures certainly influenced by parameters. An structure cannot be defined general case, it depends application which designed. Hence, different determined desired properties.
